Youre A Derry Girl stayed on best inside the final furlong under Emily Cody to cause a 50/1 upset in the concluding Follow Us On Facebook Flat Race at Cork.

A faller at the first flight here on her hurdling debut in May, the daughter of Leading Light had shown a hint of ability when mid division in two bumpers prior to that setback.

Returned to the latter discipline this afternoon, the six-year-old was held up towards the rear of the field by Cody, before moving into mid division early in the straight.

At that point, the race looked to chiefly concern Royal Moon and Sonny Dont Go Away who settled down to battle it out inside the last furlong.

However, Youre A Derry Girl was switched out from the pack by Cody and came with a strong late run down the outside to get the better of the aforementioned pair close home.

It was a third winner under rules for Emily Cody, who has also ridden four point-to-point winners.
