Owners Alan and Ann Potts enjoyed a day to remember at Naas as their colours were first and second home in the valuable Woodlands 100 Club Leinster National Handicap Chase.

There were plenty of runners in with chances as they turned into the home straight but Jonathan Moore always appeared to be sitting pretty aboard Venitien De Mai (10-3 fav) and he powered away once navigating the final fence safely, eventually seeing off stablemate Goonyella by six lengths.< Sub Lieutenant was all heart when running out a gutsy winner of the Grade Three Naas Directors Plate Novice Chase for trainer Sandra Hughes.

The 9-1 scorer has failed to fire the last twice but was in no mood for lying down today, setting a brisk gallop from the flag-fall under Danny Mullins and finding plenty when asked to dig deep in the closing stages.

Fellow Gigginstown runner Tell Us More was backed into favouritism just before the off and looked set to collect when coming there strongly approaching the last but Sub Lieutenant wasn't to be denied and ground out a two length success.

There was a turn up in the opening Irish Racing Writers Kingsfurze Novice Hurdle as 12-1 outsider Sutton Place turned in a highly promising display to readily outpoint his more fancied rivals.

Gordon Elliott's recent Fairyhouse bumper winner is a real stamp of a horse and was always travelling kindly before taking over with a neat jump at the final flight and drawing six and a half lengths clear.< Total Recall (5-1) handed the Hughes stable a double on the afternoon when coming though with a well-timed challenge to see off the fast-finishing Aengus by a neck in the Naas Supporters Handicap Hurdle.

There was an easy first chasing success for Caolaneoin (20-1) as he sauntered ten lengths clear of Vent De La Cote in the Hospitality At Naas Racecourse Beginners Chase while A Genie In Abottle (3-1) made the perfect start to his hurdling career in the Panoramic Restaurant At Naas Maiden Hurdle.
