Across The Bay had been running over fences and seemed to lose his bottle for chasing. every time he ran in chases I fancied him because he works so well but he was pulled up at halfway in the Paddy Power Chase. Today though, after he jumped the second hurdle, he seemed to prick his ears and say to himself ‘these aren't too big!' and away he went! We'll aim him at the Pertemps Final now.

Across The Bay was very disappointing in the Troytown Chase when we fancied him a lot. He had been working very well before the race and, having run so badly, I would probably have preferred to have run him once since then.

That's the way to ride. It was probably as good an execution of a ride as you'd ever see on ground that was very bad. He'll go for a winners race and we have plenty of options as he gets three miles. That was a good performance first time over fences.

I don't know what happened him the last day (made a bad mistake in the Star 'Best For Racing Coverage' Chase that went to War Of Attrition) as he never makes a mistake. He is getting on but he is still very useful and he is better when he doesn't run too often. Two to two and a half miles is okay for him but I don't know where he'll go next.
