It was close and hard luck on Nina but both horses ran their hearts out. Auvergnat was our fancy because he'd run at Cheltenham, and he's only eight and an up and coming horse. I must say he got a great ride from Donie as well,.

that's out little lot done now before Cheltenham. Whether our lads are good enough to handle the likes of Cause Of Causes, I don't think so, but we don't know what will turn up - Auvergnat is still relatively young as well. There is nothing we can do, only win, so I'm happy with that. Cheltenham is the plan for the first two and Cantlow (a non-runner from today's race) also - Cantlow just gave a little cough this morning and we had him primed for his run. He'll go straight to Cheltenham and he loves it there and the drier ground suits him too. We're happy, it's job done, and we'll freshen them up now and maybe have a couple of days to the seaside and things.

we decided to skip the La Touche (at Punchestown) as it was firm in parts down the back but he slushed through it well today! . He was in good form and we decided to come here. He could be finished now and his main job will be back to Cheltenham in November - he’s only seven.

Garry Cribbin is my agent and it's hopefully onwards and upwards from here. Donal has been with me a few years. He was finding it hard to get rides in point-to-points so he has decided to go down this route (turning professional). He's (Auvergnat) only a seven-year-old and should have a nice future at this game. He will have to go for the cross-country now at Cheltenham next month. He had a look there last week, and it was just unfortunate (unseated and then fell when loose) what happened then.
