That was great. I was a small bit worried coming here that I hadn’t prepped him as good as Galway because he’d had a week in the field and only had two bits of work,. We were questioning whether he was 100 percent himself but he got the job done anyway. He probably hadn’t a whole pile left at the line. He travelled very well and I’d say he’d be better in a better race, going a better gallop. He was kind of keen the whole way. He’s had a long road with his injuries and the owners deserve it. I was taking every precaution today putting up Michael. Michael took the southern point-to-points by storm last spring and I watched him riding a couple of winners. He’d been begging me to give him a couple of spins and I told him to come in a day a week. He’s done well and I think he’ll fly this year in point-to-points. He’s a good rider.

It's a big day and these are the meetings that you need to be having winners at,. I got a dream run around, I followed Danny Mullins as he's usually fairly good on ground. He's a funny horse, when he grabs it he races with you and he gives everything. You have to keep him in a coma like a Flat horse. I was watching the boys get ahead of me going down the hill but I said I'd fill him again. When you let him out you can feel him start to come back under you a little. I winged by Donagh (Meyler, on Arctic Gale) heading to the second last and he stayed on up the hill really well. He has a serious heart, he's a great trier. He was off for two years with a leg, he broke down very badly. All the lads looked after him very well. My father looked after him very well, it was a long road but it was well worth it. He was in Fethard (Equine Hospital) for a long time and Ger Kelly said it was 50/50. He said when he's so good give him the chance and we gave him the full two years. It was a long process coming back, trotting him for a couple of months. It's all worked out and he's a lovely horse. He's only rated 109 over fences. We might go for the McCarthys Bar Lexington Handicap Chase at Tramore. It's kind of a local race and I'd say my Dad would like to win it.

The plan was to put him asleep, he’s been a little bit unlucky,. The owners had a few quid on him down in Listowel and he just got beaten. I said I’d drop anchor at the back as they usually get tired around here. He actually came up out of my hands at the third last and took me to the front. I thought he was getting a bit keen there but I had a quick look behind and they were all in trouble. I would have preferred to have waited until the road with him but he was going so easy. He was off nearly two years with legs. When you’re sitting on the couch it takes a bit of time to get back fully fit. I made a mistake running him at Sligo on quick ground. My brother is involved, he’s living out in Spain. Hopefully he’ll get into a race in Galway, they want to run there.

He's in right order, a lovely sharp horse and jumps like a cat. He's in on Tuesday (at Wexford) with a penalty and I think he would have 12st 5lb. We'll see about Shane riding him, we might have to claim off him. We'll see how he comes out of today, we are staying the night anyway. We will see how it goes. It is great to have today under our belt and if he is not right for Tuesday, we will give him a little chance now. He's a real bonny horse and he is able to flick along on nice ground. I'm mad about him.
