that was a surprise - he disappointed over Christmas, probably the trip (2m4f) wasn't ideal. The blinkers he had on today were actually a mistake as I meant to put cheek-pieces on when I was declaring him - it's a pity he isn't entered in the Thyestes but we'll find another nice staying chase for him soon.

I thought the leading pair would come back to me but they kept at it well and Drive On Jim had to really grind it out to win. He will go back chasing now.

Drive On Jim was only 34 on the ballot list for this race but having been in such good form since his win two days ago, I had to take my chance here.

He came to life lately and his wind was very good today. He was nicely enough handicapped but he is even better handicapped over hurdles (90 over fences and 84 over flights) and he'll probably go back for a hurdle now. He won a handicap hurdle around here before.
