The Blarney Rose is awarded win
The Blarney Rose was awarded the Kelloggs Cul Camps Handicap Hurdle in the Stewards Room after the 7/2 favourite Easy Vic passed the post in first place. The Tony Martin trained favourite (got in as second reserve) veered to the rail from the last, impeding The Blarney Rose, who subsequently collided with the rail. Easy Vic went on to score by a length and a half with The Blarney Rose finishing second, but after a lengthy Stewards Enquiry the positions were reserved. The winner who is trained by Eugene O’Sullivan was sent off at 12/1 and was ridden by amateur Brendan Crowley who is a son of winning owner Stuart. The eight-year-old daughter of Oscar (second winner of the day for that sire after Fiery Oscar won the second) was recording her first win on the racecourse today but she has five point-to-point wins to her name. Crowley back in winner's enclosure
Jockey Brian Crowley partnered his first winner back in Ireland since returning last January when guiding Fiery Oscar to win the Powerstown Desmene Handicap Hurdle at Clonmel today. Thu 29th Oct
Keeping him around or below Cashel seems to be the way with this fellow. He's a hardy little buck and this time last year he was only rated 89 but he keeps pulling out some more. I thought the ground would catch him but he's a plucky little fellow. He'll probably stay over fences as he's rated far too high over hurdles. He's nowhere near a mid-130's horse.
Rodger Sweeney
That's a grand win, it's grand to win a race anytime. That's his seventh National Hunt win.
Rodger Sweeney
He is like wine, he is improving with age and he won snugly there. He has turned inside out and I'm not sure where he will go next. He might have one or two more runs before we give him a break for the summer. Additional reporting by Thomas Weekes
Rodger Sweeney
.He's running well and it's not every horse that will handle Tramore,.
Rodger Sweeney
My father is gone to Dundalk, where our better chances are running (Khelino & Raydari). I didn't think he'd win as easy but obviously the other horse falling made it easier.
Rodger Sweeney
He's a tough little devil and was due that win,. He fell at Gowran (penultimate run) but I don't think he would have beaten the winner. He'll stay hurdling for a bit. He's a handy little horse and could snap another little handicap.
Rodger Sweeney
Fiery Oscar ran well at Tipperary but would have preferred nicer ground. It was an average race and he's no Dunguib!
Rodger Sweeney
