That was lovely. We had actually planned to go chasing with him. We were looking for one of those 110 or less beginners but there were none coming up for a while. He was in good form, I love running horses when they are in good form, and I said to the lads we’d go and try and win another hurdle in the meantime. Hopefully, it won’t put him out of them (beginners' chases) but we’re delighted. He gets two-and-a-half (miles), but a good strong pace at two (miles) definitely suits well as well. He was dropping back in class as well which made a big difference. I thought the Bellewstown race the last day was probably a bit too much anyway, a bit above him. He wants good ground and I was happy the rain didn’t come that they were giving originally. As long as he stays in good form, and the ground is reasonable, we’ll keep running.

His jumping fell apart in Galway the last day but, overall, he is a brilliant jumper. Today's jump at the last wasn't very good but he jumped very well. We didn't know what went wrong at Galway but Jordan (Gainford, jockey) said he wasn't man enough for that tight competitive handicap. He was down to a very ordinary maiden hurdle today and while he would prefer further, everything else was in his favour. It is brilliant for the syndicate as there are two Ballinrobe men, Damian Conway and Eoin Rowe involved, along with Leonard Kinsella, who is the Laytown connection, and has been with me a lifetime. He'll go over fences sooner rather than later.
