We’ve thought the world of this horse from the day he won the bumper in Fairyhouse, he was second in the Grade 1 at Punchestown,. He’s had a few wee problems and it’s kept him off the track for a long time. When we started this season he had only run eight times. He had a great run back, at Cork, at Christmas when Sam (Ewing) rode him. It was a really good run for such a long lay-off. We went to Haydock, picked out a nice race, and we fancied him that day to go well. For whatever reason it didn’t happen and we gave him a good break and had this race in mind. Thankfully it’s worked out. In Haydock he was jumping left and was never happy. Yet he was in great form going there and we were really confident. Haydock can be a funny track, it dries out quick and it can ride sharp enough. I wonder whether he just found it sharp. He never got off on the right footing in the race whereas today JJ had him in a lovely position and he jumped well. The further he went the better he was jumping and he stayed really well.

He has probably grown, he's a wee bit bigger and stronger. Sure, we had to start somewhere and that was an ideal race to start on our doorstep. He's just a big, laidback, easy-going horse. We will just try and place him sensibly over hurdles this year. I really can't wait to jump fences with him but we'll not get too far ahead of ourselves. He will come on plenty for that and the further he goes the better he will be. He has a great temperament, in so far as he is laidback, so you can probably put him where you want to in a race. He had plenty of schooling done to go point-to-pointing and he is not a natural hurdler as he is probably a big clean jumper. I would be hoping I'd be here talking to you after the (Grade 1) James Nicholson one day. We will all meet up and talk about where he might end up in the spring. We know he will handle better ground but he needs a bit of experience as well. I'd imagine we will not be over-racing him this season. He will want a step up in trip in a higher grade. In the lower grade of race, probably the trip is not as important. When we start taking on the better horses we probably will step up in trip. He's in a handful of the most exciting horses certainly in Ireland this winter. He's a proper Gold Cup type of horse, I hope. He's a big staying chaser. He's not a slow horse and he will furnish more for another summer. He is improving all the time. We don't want to get to the bottom of him this season. He's still a big baby really. He's a horse

we thought he was a nice horse and should have been going point-to-pointing, that was the plan. He's a very good jumper but he was ready to run and we had to get him out somewhere. My brother (Ben) has done all the work on him and I'm just sorry he wasn't on him today. He was confident he'd go well. He's a lovely horse and he's for sale. Jordan gave him a good ride and did everything I asked - hopefully I can get him again, if he keeps getting winners he'll be hard to get.
