Sutton Place continued on his upward curve by leading home a Gordon Elliott-trained one-two in the Ladbrokes Ireland Boyne Hurdle at NavanSun 19th Feb
He was entitled to win that on ratings. Jack said he quickened up at the back of the second last and he’s having a good blow there now. He’ll come on from it and we’ll try and find something small for him. He was a bit behind the bridle early but he was the good the further he went. It was his first time on grass, and I was happy with him.
Gordon Elliott
Davy (Russell) was delighted with him, he said he jumped those hurdles a lot better than the Easyfix hurdles the last day. The last day he got a bit tired but today he was spot on and he jumped a lot better. He said he stayed really well as well, He still had loads of horse at the last. He lost a shoe at the last and probably just stood on himself after it and pecked a bit. I'd say he gave himself a fright too. Davy said he was going a bit too well down to it but he kept the forward momentum. He's definitely a horse to look forward to for the winter. He'll be a lovely staying horse over hurdles but his future is obviously over fences as he's a big horse. He'll have no bother with three miles, he stays well.
Davy Condon, representing Gordon Elliott
He's a nice horse but he's a horse for next year — a horse for down the road,. We like him a lot and Jamie said he'd come on a good bit from it as he had a good blow. He's a fair horse. He's a stayer like all the horses that Eddie (O'Leary) buys. He might run again, I'm not sure. We'll see how he comes out of it. Jamie said he'd definitely come on from the run so we'd be happy with that. He said he was probably in front too soon. In his point-to-point when he got to the front he pulled up as well. It's a good day again so we're happy enough.
Gordon Elliott
