Birrane strikes again with Dandy
Rock On Dandy continued a good spell for Mayo handler Fergal Birrane when running out a cosy winner of the first division of the mile-and-a-half handicap at Dundalk. Wed 06th Dec
we knew from his work at home that he could do a bit more than a mile and a half but the way he won today impressed me. He took a hold at the start and got a bit buzzed up but Denis did a good job and got him settled. He could go hurdling in the future; we haven't schooled him yet but we're hoping he'll jump them. It's been a lucky place for us here. We have a polytrack gallop at home and we also have the beach (at Killala, Co Mayo) so it suits us here. We have more coming in for the grass in the next couple of weeks.
F Birrane
We keep him off the gallops and keep him on the beach and it seems to suit him. It's brilliant to get the second win with him here and hopefully there is more to come. We may even drop him back a bit in trip as he seems to be versatile. Padraig was brilliant on him and really has the handle on him now.
F Birrane
Everything is just coming together in the last couple of weeks and all the horses are peaking. I’ve been doing a lot of beach work and swimming with them. This horse will be campaigned here over the winter, and I’ve a couple more nice horses still to come here as well.
F Birrane
