There is (relief) to be honest as we had a long, hard year with him last year,
Gordon Elliott
It's a big team effort from everyone at home, and it worked out great today. There was a lot of pressure, for Jack, for me - for everyone, the whole team. I'm delighted, it's brilliant.
Gordon Elliott
I'm delighted and Jack gave him a great ride. We can go any road with him now and he's a good horse to have. Nothing fazes him at all and he just does what he has to do; he eats, sleeps and drinks — a bit like myself!. we are lucky to have him and is bought to be a three mile chaser and that is what he is and to be honest he showed a lot of class there today and could be anything. Coming today I thought we'd be going for the Ballymore Novices Hurdle (2m5f at Cheltenham) but he could now go for any race, so we'll see. He has loads of options but will definitely go to Cheltenham. I wouldn't rule out the Supreme (Novices Hurdle) after that but I'll chat with the lads (O'Learys) and see. I don't know where we'll go to tell you the truth but I would be frightened by Getabird (Willie Mullins trained) — I thought he was very good and think he's a good horse. My horses had been running well without getting a winner so we're delighted now and can enjoy the rest of it.
Gordon Elliott
That was a good performance and he did it very well. Jack said he gave him a bit of light at the third last and he just took off on him. It was nice to see he could do that (over two and a half miles) so we have loads of options. I'd say he will be (better on better ground). I just said to Davy Condon at the start that the one worry I had was that it was his first time on that real, real heavy ground. Most good horses win on every ground and he looks a real nice one. We are lucky to have him. He jumped the last like he jumped a fence but after running in point-to-points you expect that. I don't know if we'll go for Christmas, we might wait for the (Lawlors Hotel) race in Naas (2m4f). He's obviously a horse for next year, whatever he does will be a bonus this year. I thought that was a bit special what he did there, it was class.
Gordon Elliott
Job done — we think he's a nice horse. Jack said it was pretty straight-forward and he would have done as much at home on the gallop,. He's relaxed and you could step him up in trip but he's got the pace for that. He's a nice horse, it's hard to know how good he is but we like him and we think the world of him. His bumpers were very good last year. Half-way through his bumpers he looks like he goes to sleep and is lobbing along. I think the day we really saw him was the day with Lisa when she gave him a slap down the shoulder, at Fairyhouse, and he showed the pace he has. He put it to sleep there from the turn-in to the last, he put 15-lengths between them. I don't think he could have done anymore than he did. He'd have to improve again to go to the next level but he looks a nice horse. We have that many of them we have to split them up. It'll be steady steady and he'll have one more run before Christmas I'd imagine. We'll have to look at something like the Royal Bond. I've said it all along I think he's quick enough for two miles and he has the stamina to stay and step out whenever you want. Chasing is going to be his game so we'll try and mind him.
Gordon Elliott
He’s a proper horse, and would have done more in a bit of work than he did there. He could go for the Champion Bumper in Punchestown all being well. We have plenty of other horses for it but he will definitely get an entry. He was asleep the whole way and Lisa said when she gave him a squeeze over two furlongs out it was like he had just jumped in. We’ll see what the ground is like at Punchestown but he’s a good horse. I would have said he is a two and a half mile plus horse down the line but he doesn’t look slow.
Gordon Elliott
He's a lovely horse, and we like him a lot. Jamie said it was real cat and mouse, and he would have done more in a gallop at home. He may only have one more run this season. He could have a month off and look at Fairyhouse or Punchestown. He's a horse for the future.
Gordon Elliott
He’s a good horse. He won’t have much of it this year, maybe another bumper. He should be some horse down the road please God. He’s good.
Gordon Elliott
