Rock takes Gowran opener
Steele’s Rock made it sixth time lucky as he finally broke his duck to win the Spring Team Classic Final 2011 at Gowran Park maiden hurdle. Sat 19th Mar
I'm delighted with that, he was great. He was impressive at Killarney but we wanted to see if he could step up today, and he did. They went a really good gallop today but he picked up and seemed to stay well. Andrew gave him a great ride and it's great to have him back. We might send him over to Cheltenham in mid-October for a novice hurdle over 2m5f now.

The horses are flying and we've hit a vein of form. Before Christmas we thought this was a really good horse and went for the four-year-old bumper at Leopardstown but came home disappointed. He struggled on the ground at Clonmel before running well at Gowran. We put him away with this meeting in mind, and he'll make a real nice horse for this time of the year. We'll hope to keep going through the autumn as his owners like going to the Cheltenham meetings in October and November. But he'll have to prove his worth to go there.
