This year's Irish National winning jockey Ben Dalton will miss the Punchestown Festival after he broke a bone in his foot at Wexford on Friday.

The five pound conditional was involved in a nasty incident when riding Prince Of Leisure in the Broomhill Point Handicap Chase.

Just after jumping the fifth last tragedy struck as Prince Of Leisure suffered an apparent heart attack, careering across the track and slamming into the wall.

Dalton miraculously walked away from the incident with just a limp but after giving up his rides at Tramore the following day, it was clear he was suffering from the after affects.

His agent Gary Cribbin said this afternoon; "His foot swelled up and he went to the doctor yesterday and he has broken a bone in his foot.

"He will be out for three to four weeks and it’s a pity that he is going to miss Punchestown as he had been going so well since winning the National."
