Warren Greatrex is looking forward to seeing his prolific mare The Nipper take on the boys at the Punchestown Festival later this month.

The six-year-old lined up at Ireland's end-of-season fixture last term after winning her first three starts in bumpers, but showed she has a few quirks to go with her talent when running out through the rails under Nina Carberry.

Her jumping career did not get off to the best of starts as she fell at Wetherby, but she has since completed a hat-trick of wins and is set for a return to Punchestown for a tilt at the Tattersalls Ireland Champion Novice on the Friday of the Festival.

"She will probably go and take on the boys and run in the two-and-a-half-mile novice hurdle at Punchestown, though she will have her mares' allowance," said Greatrex.

"She's won three fairly easy races, so a good bit more will be needed. She needs soft ground, so hopefully they will get a bit over there.

"She has had a few niggly problems this season and has been a slow burner, but she has got loads of talent. She will go on her holiday in Ireland so it fits in well to take this race in.

"I would say she will go chasing next season as we would not be wanting to hang around too much over hurdles as she is a big mare."

The Lambourn trainer is also aiming One Track Mind at the Punchestown Festival.

The seven-year-old has been disappointing over fences this term and is set to revert to the smaller obstacles to defend his crown in the Ladbrokes Champion Stayers Hurdle on Thursday, April 27.

"One Track Mind goes straight to Punchestown. He is in very good form at the moment and I am happy with him so that is the plan," said Greatrex.

"He got a bit of a thorn stuck in a fetlock, but he's fine now. He goes there fresh and he definitely comes alive in the spring."
