Formscan By Michael Graham - There should be a Flat maiden in DADDY LONG LEGS who was last seen winning comfortably over flights at Ballinrobe in May. His third place in a Ballinrobe maiden last year behind a subsequent Group 2 winner is a notable piece of form in the context of this race. Joe Cool was another horse successful over hurdles on his latest start at Ballinrobe and, prior to that, he posted three placed efforts on the Flat, so has to be respected. Murat has two bumpers and a maiden hurdle in his locker and isn't one to underestimate on his Flat debut. Steel Cut came home well for second over an extended 10f at Dundalk, while Roscommon runner-up Duvessa is another to consider.

he showed a huge turn of foot. He was in front way too soon, and I'm sure Paul would have kicked himself but he said to me the horse just carried him and he didn't want to disappoint him. He's a horse that could go back on the Flat and is maybe one for Royal Ascot. He's still a maiden on the Flat, he's only had one run when finishing second in France. I'd say he's very ground dependent, in winter time in heavy ground he wasn't able to handle it but on this ground it seems to be a different ball game. He surprised me, especially after being in Ludlow last week. To come back from England and do that in a big handicap is good.

I was up against two Grade 1 horses there, and the winner probably fell. It’s a learning curve for my lad and he’ll come on again for that,. He jumped a lot better today and I think I might step him up in distance after that, and let him cruise a bit further. We might go to Cheltenham and have a day out there with him. We’re close enough to the horses that are in the betting for the Supreme so why not roll the dice with him now, that’s if I still have him. I told Cian to try and get a fill into him, possibly two, and he gave him a fabulous ride. He got two fills into him. I said to try and get a fill into him before the turn in and then come up the straight with him and that’s what he did. Sean (O’Keeffe) usually rides him but he’s down in Limerick. We’ll see what happens the next day with that. I like taking on this opposition, all the big stables. Once you are competing and running well against them I look forward to it. It’s a bit nerve-wracking though. He’s nearly 18 hands high, if he’s sound in the morning we’ll dream of bigger days again. I might turn up here for the DRF. There are no real plans. Today was about seeing where we stood.
