The performance of Montregard (FR) which started second favourite and was pulled up before the 4th last fence on the first circuit, was considered.
It was noted that Tom Lacey could offer no further explanation for the gelding’s performance other than the report from Stan Sheppard that it had stopped quickly.
The Veterinary Officer examined Montregard (FR), during routine testing and found that the gelding had an irregular heartbeat.
Following the race, Jonathan Burke reported that Beachcomber (FR), which was pulled up, made a mistake at the second fence and never travelled thereafter, Sean Houlihan reported that Kap Vert (FR), placed third, also made a mistake at the second fence and Stan Sheppard reported that Montregard (FR), which was pulled up, stopped quickly.
