Trainer Joseph O’Brien is bidding to win his first Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot today with the Dylan Browne McMonagle-partnered Andab, which is one of 21 runners in the Group 2 contest.

A winner on debut at the Curragh, the son of Saxon Warrior finished third to Albert Einstein in the Group 3 Marble Hill Stakes on May 25 and today bids to turn form with that race’s runner-up Power Blue.

Regarding his Al Shaqab Racing/Trevor Stewart-owned colt, O’Brien says “Andab ran great last time, I was very happy with the run. I think he’s going to be better on Tuesday and I think he’s a contender.”

Royal Ascot begins today with the Group 1 Queen Anne Stakes at 2.30, with two other top-level races including the five furlongs King Charles III Stakes and the mile St James´s Palace Stakes.
