N.G. McCullagh, rider of War Room, trained by S.M.Duffy, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that two horses slipped in front of him. The Stewards met with a deligation of riders who echoed their concerns about the safety of the track, which they felt had become greasy and slippy following a period of rain. Evidence was also heard from the Turf Club Clerk of the Course, Mr. T. V. O'Connell, who stated that the track had been sanded and spiked before racing. Evidence was also heard from a number of trainers and the racecourse manager, Mr Andrew Hogan. Having considered all the evidence and acting in the interest of safety, the Stewards abandoned the remainder of today's card
