FormscanBy Tom Weekes - WARGRAVE has an awful draw in 16 but can gain a deserved first success here. He has shown a smart level of ability thus far and while he finished last at the Curragh latest, that was in the Group 1 National Stakes and he certainly wasn't disgraced in that contest. His previous form has also been strong, including when finishing third at Listed level at Tipperary, and in the past he has also shown an ability to handle easy ground. Could Be King is a strong challenger having also shown good form in Group races. He has shown useful form in his three starts todate and while comfortably enough held in Curragh Group races recently, those were in high class races and on a form line through National Stakes runner-up Anthony Van Dyck, has in theory 6L in hand over WARGRAVE. However it is probably Anthony Van Dyck improved subsequently in that National Stakes and one possible concern for Could Be King is he drifted right in the closing stages of the Rond Tower Stakes. He has shown useful form on easy ground and today's right-handed track should also suit but he will need to be at his best to beat the selection. Mofakker has the inside draw in 1 and is also well suited by soft ground. He hasn't shown the same level of ability as the selection or Could Be King but being by Lope De Vega and having shown form on soft at Listowel, will be ideally suited by plenty rain. Eminence was thoroughly disappointing at Naas recently and could be one to avoid.
