FormscanBy Tom Weekes - TWILIGHT PAYMENT has shown a good and consistent level of ability all year and can win. His form in general is admirably consistent and while his outings this year have all been on good and fast ground, he has in the past won and run well on soft ground and today's Listed contest is a drop down in grade from his latest good efforts. The King is top adjusted-rated runner, by 1lb over TWILIGHT PAYMENT, being a three year old, and he too has strong claims. He is another consistent and smart performer who is proven at this trip, and while he won his maiden on soft ground as a two year old, it is a small concern that he has only raced on quick ground since then and he may have a small preference for a sounder surface. The Tartan Spartan is an able type who beat TWILIGHT PAYMENT on today's terms over 1m6f at Down Royal in July 2017. He is clearly useful and returned following a year layoff at Newmarket recently but has also twice been beaten by the selection and the fact he presumably had a setback earlier this year is also a concern. Jaega has shown a liking for soft ground and showed smart form earlier this year. She was well enough held at Gowran last month but could strip fitter for that comeback run and can get involved today. Fightfortheroses has a rating of just 82 but did show improved form to win at Gowran latest. He appeared to relish the step up in trip then and being a half-brother to Derby winner Pour Moi, he is almost sure to improve with time. Stablemate Sir Erec won his maiden last time out at the Curragh in August but is now 43 days absent and has plenty to prove stepping up to this level now.
