FormscanBy Mark Nunan - After some solid efforts in defeat, LOVEDAY was a decisive winner when showing good speed throughout to beat Money Tree at Cork and may step forward enough from that to go close here. The selection was second to solid yardstick Castle Star over course and distance earlier in the campaign and seemed to appreciate the removal of headgear and racing on faster ground last time, although she also has solid form on easy ground. Money Tree went on to win at Tipperary but needs to find more here, and Phoenix Stakes fifth Strapped sets the standard on the basis of his new mark of 103. He was never really competitive in that Group 1 but did replicate earlier form with Castle Star and has strong claims on paper. Harmony Rose had Loveday behind her a couple of times earlier in the year but looks opposable overall, while Down Royal maiden winner Head Mistress and British raider Zebelle are unexposed but will need to improve a good bit on what they’ve achieved thus far. Five-race maiden Orinoco River has had excuses a couple of times and is not one to rule out on the pick of her form.
