FormscanBy Eamonn Murphy - The opposition he disposed of at Leopardstown were probably nothing to write home about, but NAPA VALLEY could hardly have done any more than he did on debut. Evidently a straight-forward type, Seamie Heffernan led on the three-year-old, and they were joined before halfway. In front again from two furlongs out Napa Valley went on from over a furlong out, before comfortably seeing off Aztec Parade by three and a quarter lengths. The runner-up has since just lost out in a median auction maiden at Naas. Napa Valley is a half-brother to a Group One winning sprinter in Tiggy Wiggy. You wouldn’t envisage him having any problems going up to ten furlongs though. Heffernan is on the selection, with Wayne Lordan on Keats for Aidan O’Brien too. That fellow, another son of Galileo, has a squeak as well. The likes of Masteroffoxhounds, Maker Of Kings, Rebel Tale and Katiba are also respected.
