FormscanBy Mark Nunan - The Group Two Railway Stakes over course and distance at the end of June is obviously the key piece of form here with GO BEARS GO taken to confirm placings with six of these rivals who finished behind him on that occasion. There were one or two excuses for some of those in behind David Loughnane’s colt, but he showed good speed throughout and looked an uncomplicated type. Castle Star missed a beat at the start and found himself with quite a bit to do before running on for second, a length and a quarter behind the selection. He had been progressive prior to that and might get closer, but the winner was holding him in the final hundred yards. Dr Zempf was just getting tapped for toe when a gap closed on him over a furlong out, after which he kept on well for fourth. He might make the frame but has a fair bit to find with the winner. Ebro River has been beaten no more than two lengths in three runs at Group Two level so is clearly worth his place in the line-up, while Prettiest, the sole filly in the field, had an excuse when turned over at odds-on last time and is better judged on her previous fourth in the Albany Stakes.
