FormscanBy Mark Nunan - PONDUS was hampered at a crucial stage when second behind Oriental Eagle at Limerick on his first start for Joseph O’Brien having been travelling like a winner turning for home. He had smart form behind the likes of Addeybb and Desert Encounter last year, and he can gain compensation here. Simsir was a disappointing favourite that day, but won a good handicap in Meydan in the spring having been progressive last season. He’s better than he showed last time and won’t be far away. Camphor will enjoy stepping back up to 12f and she can turn around Leopardstown form (on her penultimate start) with Heliac and Fresnel having been denied a clear run in the straight that day. Katiba and Helvic Dream are three-year-olds with upside but need to find a fair chunk of improvement to win here.
