FormscanBy Gary Carson - A really good race and LONG ISLAND SOUND gets the vote. The War Front colt started his career with two wins here in the spring and has progressed into a really smart performer since. He ran well when stepped up in company at Royal Ascot, finishing third to subsequent Eclipse winner Hawkbill, and was then far from disgraced when sixth behind stable-mate Deauville in Grade 1 company in the US. His most recent trip back to his native land saw him just fail by a head to land the Secretariat Stakes and no doubt he'll be off on his travels again after this. Qatari Hunter is only rated a pound lower but hasn't kept the same sort of company. He was a decent fourth in a Goodwood Group 3 when last seen in late July and was progressive in handicap company previously. English raider Battalion was rated 111 at the start of this season but hasn't performed to that level and is now 104, a mark off which he was fifth in handicap company last time. At his best he'd be a big danger but he may have to settle for minor honours behind more progressive rivals. Brazilian Group 1 winner Cruiseliner is a fascinating runner here and it will be interesting to see how she fares. The five-year-old, who scored at the top level in March 2015, makes her first outing for Kildare handler Takashi Kodama.
