FormscanBy Tom Weekes - GRAND PARTNER is already the winner of seven races and has solid claims of defying top weight if reproducing his good third placing at Navan in December. He is generally a reliable sort and while his two runs prior to Navan in December were ordinary (he was behind Montys Meadow here in November), today's race is a somewhat lesser race than the Navan one, which was a Grade B handicap. Westerner Point has been in good form himself recently and should also prove competitive. He was well held in the Becher Chase last month but prior to that had been making use of his lower hurdles rating and was narrowly beaten from 114 at Clonmel in November. He has been raised 3lbs for that run but should still get involved today, with trip and testing ground in his favour. Admiral Brian was a fortunate winner at Clonmel in December but is nonetheless in good form and likely to figure today, under a 6lbs weight hike. Tout Est Permis reverts from chasing and is interesting in his first handicap and is another with claims.
