He wasn't always fluent in jumping when winning his first racecourse event at Kilbeggan the last time, where he seemed to benefit from the addition of cheek-pieces. Like so many of the Gigginstown horses, this Martaline gelding was purchased as a prospective staying chaser, and he didn't come cheap out of the point-to-points, signed for at the sales in April 2016 for 145,000 pounds by Harold Kirk and Willie Mullins. Judgement Day won at Liscarroll in March 2016 when under Michelle Gannon's guidance. He was reportedly very green at that stage when owned by Dungarvan-based Frank Tobin. His wife Ann bred the imposing bay and Frank Tobin disclosed: "We went with two mares to be covered in France five years ago. This fellow and a filly were the result. We sold the filly and this fellow will now go to the Goffs UK Sale at Aintree next month."
