FormscanBy Michael Graham - The exciting Zawraq is on the comeback trail. He holds a rating of 111 based on two wins at this track in a maiden and in a Listed 2,000 Guineas trial. He suffered a crack to his off-fore cannon bone just before the English Derby last year which has seen him off-track since. It is to be hoped that he retains all his ability. He hasn't been seen on a track since April last year and is stepping up in trip to a mile and two. He might be best watched today instead of backed. SANTA MONICA is certainly battle hardened. She was far from disgraced last month in the Group Two Blandford Stakes in the Curragh when third. Prior to that, she was only beaten half a length in a Listed race at Gowran over nine furlongs. She was also placed in a Group Three back in May. Drying ground will certainly aid her cause. She is rated 11lbs inferior to Zawraq and receives 10lbs, so has every chance of overturning the favourite. Round Two went off favourite for last year's Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot but hasn't troubled the judge from then until winning a handicap in Limerick a couple of weeks ago. He has slipped down the ratings but that win should have done his confidence the power of good. On his best form he would be very competitive here.
