FormscanBy Michael Graham - A cracking winners' bumper. Captain Barbossa enters the fray unbeaten with wins banked in Ballinrobe and Cork. He certainly sets the standard. However, both Captain Barbossa and FUGI MOUNTAIN have beaten the same horse, Bertie Bell, into second. Captain Barbossa beat him by a short head in Ballinrobe whereas Fugi Mountain beat him by three and a quarter lengths at Sligo. In light of that and the fact that Fugi Mountain is proven on slower ground he is given preference. Thumb Stone Blues was only 11/2 (from 7/1) on debut at Kilbeggan and justified the faith in him by winning nicely by two lengths. There could be much more in the tank. Fu's Island showed a good attitude by making long odds-on favourite Tesseract work hard for his third bumper success. That strength of character ought to serve her well. Poetic Lady kept on best in Roscommon and shouldn't be ignored.
