Newstart won a selling hurdle at Wetherby (2m5f, good) on stable debut in March, and on home soil he was a good second on his last two starts in small-field affairs. Obviously it was a lot more competitive for him when he came here on Monday night, though he looked to be on a fair mark. As it turned out the Stowaway gelding ran satisfactorily to finish fourth behind Pateen, and he should be there or thereabouts again. Many of these are capable of making an impression including Papal Motel – third on the Flat on Thursday behind Andratx. Babanango (tongue-strap tried) is one to watch in the betting after a break.
