He found only one horse too good in that big field over 7f and plenty of cut in the ground is ideal for Johnny Levins' charge. Ramiro's third place in a higher grade at the Curragh entitles him to respect and he is a former course winner, while Pinar Del Rio has done little wrong this season in banking a runner-up berth and victory at the Curragh. Levins also saddles Nordic Passage who is dropping down the weights to an attractive mark.

I got him on the recommendation of Declan Carroll and David Nolan (jockey) as his owner was replacing him with yearlings and thankfully he gave me a call and I've loved him since the day he came in the yard,. He is a lovely big strong brute of a horse and ran well in all his races for Declan last year when he had a few unlucky stories. Declan rang this morning and gave Donagh the instructions so I had no real part in it!. I'd love to find something in York for him if he continues to go the right way as he has run well there in the past. He's been second four times this year. The owners are local so I'm delighted for them as they stuck with the horse all year, it's great to get a win with him,. We made a mistake as I thought he might get the seven in Fairyhouse, as it's a handy seven, but he doesn't seem to get that trip. This trip here is ideal for him. He's entered at the Curragh on Saturday and we might have to go again. Wesley is well worth his claim, I reckon he's the best apprentice in the country. Things just didn't work out for him, but they are now. There is a long road to go yet, but he's probably getting a bit more firepower now with Johnny (Murtagh) than when he was with me. He puts a lot of work in. That's 15 on the board for me this season and they are all newish horses. He's learning about sprinting, and we were adamant about dropping him back to five. I told Donagh going out 'you're on the best horse, give him an amount of time and see if he can quicken from the two pole to line. If he wins doing that then we are right in what we thought'.
