FormscanBy Gary Carson - DADDY LONG LEGS won't have taken much out of himself after a cosy success at Ludlow last week. That confidence boosting win should have done him good after he finished well-beaten in Grade 1 company behind brilliant stablemate Ballyburn at Leopardstown. He could be nicely treated now in handicap company. Toto Too was good when winning on his first outing for Gavin Cromwell at Naas and is another unexposed sort that could play a big part. Bialystok won this last year and comes here off the back of a good run at Ayr 10 days ago. He's another that has to come into calculations.

I said to Danny the main thing was to get him switched off and he did that over the first three furlongs. Then he had to work his way through the field which he did and used his speed to great effect. He stayed on nicely at the end which means he’ll probably stay a bit further. His maidens were run too slow and he was just running too free. A change of tactics worked the oracle in Naas and it was much easier then coming here to ride him like that. she loves that ground and Davy gave her a great ride. He said he was happy the whole way, the one thing you don't want to do is get to the front too soon as she idles. The plan was to be upsides at the last but as soon as she got to the front she pulled up. She did it here before one day. A nice performance. By Well Chosen out of a Presenting mare, I didn't think he would have that much speed but every time I work him at home he pops his head up on the gallops. Buying him out of a point-to-point I didn't think we would be coming to Leopardstown with him but he just keeps improving. He has more speed than he is bred for. I'm very happy with him. I might try a winners' bumper but I imagine he'll go jumping next season. It didn't look the strongest race but that is always the worst race to watch! Off his Leopardstown run you'd have to say he'd win,. I have him entered up plenty since Leopardstown but was just waiting for nice ground and today's wasn't his ideal ground. He is a lovely honest horse and this is grand to get out of the way. It was great and Adam's (Lord, owner) two sons Adam and Jack have done a lot of work with her at home. One of the first horses I had in training Salford City, who Adam owned, got me going and it is nice to get another winner for him. She had a low weight and I thought she'd run alright as she was getting a stone off the favourite and had a good run at Dundalk the last day. She liked the ground and jumped well. She will win on the flat and will mix between hurdles and the Flat and we'll think about the Lartigue Hurdle (Listowel in September) for her. That's unbelievable, she has the heart of a lion. She's a mare that wants good to firm ground-wise. On the ground I didn't think it would happen today at all, I thought she might even pull up on heavy ground. She gave me my first two winners and that's my 20th today. I thought she was gone turning in but she just doesn't know when to quit. It's crazy. I was very lucky to get her. She just suits the way we train them, I keep her fresh. I actually ride her out every day myself, she's always in great form and is a pleasure to have. She tries her heart out everyday and just loves racing. I could never get him into a good race with a light weight and it was the same on the Flat. He’d a proper weight on his back today and there was a good gallop which suited him. Sean (Flanagan) said if she put-down at the second-last, he wouldn't have been found for days!. she was bought broken-and-riding for just €1,000 as a three year old at Goresbridge — she'd have cost that just to break her, so was cheap. She jumped great and is a good leaper. We thought she'd win another hurdle before going back chasing but had little issues and was getting caught at the finish, so I got her palate fired. She loves going forward and going from the front and today's race was an ideal opportunity. They did a great job watering and it was safe ground. She is a versatile mare.
