The Starter reported One Last Hug (GB) was the subject of a third criteria failure.
Jim Goldie was informed that the gelding could not run until the day after passing a stalls test.
As it was the second occasion within the previous 12 months that One Last Hug (GB) had been reported, a further report within the same period would mean the gelding would be prevented from having a stalls test for 6 months.
The winner Thaki (IRE) appeared to show an improvement in form, compared with its previous run at Carlisle on 8 July 2023, where the gelding finished seventh of twelve beaten 6½ lengths.
It was noted that Katie Scott could offer no explanation for the gelding’s improved form.
Thaki (IRE) was routine tested.
Inside the final furlong, Caribbean Sunset (IRE), placed fourth, shied away from The Caltonian (GB), placed third, briefly tightening Sparkling Spirit (GB), unplaced, for room.
However, after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Caribbean Sunset (IRE).
Approaching the line, Caribbean Sunset (IRE), placed fourth, drifted slightly right causing One Last Hug (GB), unplaced, to be eased momentarily.
Following the race, Paul Mulrennan reported that One Last Hug (GB), unplaced, was restless in the stalls.
Andrew Mullen reported that The Caltonian (GB), placed third, hung right.
