Chalky White It was great and it was the first time Keith rode for me. Ken Whelan (his agent) put him in for me. He is improving with every run, we know the family well as he is related to Tikkanen Express who we had. We were hopeful of a big run today but it was his first handicap which was our only worry. I felt he was improving with age and with runs. He is still immature and was idling when he hit the front. We'll go for something similar and the syndicate deserved a bit of luck, they are in the yard a long time and thankfully this fellow has worked out for them. One of the lads is from Kilkenny and the rest are from west Cork.

Tokyo Getaway She jumps and stays and had a grand weight on her back today. That is her second chase and she is now eligible for handicaps. The day she finished second in Tramore, she never travelled a yard and we were putting it down to the rotten ground but she was as sweet as a nut on that today and got through it lovely.

Thosedaysaregone Dromlease Express won the race 16 years ago, ridden by Johnny Allen who is now champion jockey in Australia, and Off You Go won it the previous two years. They are all two and a half mile horses and that’s what you need for the race. I was going to go to Ascot but the English handicapper stuck him up 6lb for no reason so I said I’d stay at home then. I thought if he was close enough coming to the last that he would be hard to beat. He loves nice ground as well which was a plus. We’ll consider something like the Coral Cup and there is a big bonus there now so that would twist my arm towards that race. He’s already won a chase so he can mix it in the future with handicap chases and hurdles.

The Big Getaway A much more positive approach today paid off for us and the horse loves jumping. I thought it was a tremendous performance and he galloped all the way to the line. I’d imagine we’ll be looking at the Ballymore for him. He handled that ground well and I’d imagine a big horse like him would always prefer it but I’m not making him ground dependent at the moment anyway.
