Stoughan Cross I was hopeful but he’s a horse we’ve had a lot of trouble with, and Jim (Nevin, owner) has shown fantastic patience and really stood by him. I was ready to give up on him a number of times,.

The Holy One He drifted out a bit but Paddy said that if he had pulled his stick through he would have hit the other horse,. He battled well and I'm delighted with him. I don't know if the ground was just a bit too sticky for him or what happened in Limerick last time. He loves that good ground and he'll head on to Punchestown now.

Eviscerating Evan gave him a good ride. It's a good job the horse has such a big head!. I thought he was beat but when we saw the replay, I was standing with Eddie, and his head was down at the line so we thought he had a little chance because he hit the line well. In those 50/50 ones you'll come out the wrong end half the time and the better side the other half. He's a huge horse and he'll definitely be better when he jumps fences. It's nice that he's won a hurdle now because it looked like we were going to struggle to get him to do that for a while.

City Island It was an ideal race for him to have a run before he goes over. They are mad keen to have a horse to run in their own race (the Mulryans in the Ballymore) at Cheltenham and thankfully we might have fallen on one,. It's been the plan since Galway and we just picked out a couple of races to fit in. Hopefully it will be onwards and upwards from here, as long as there is racing. He jumps very well. We might as well be running around for a few quid as running around for nothing. He's a nice horse to have. Mark said he'll probably get three miles in time so the trip of the Cheltenham race won't be an inconvenience anyway, I wouldn't think.

The Holy One He had been running in handicaps and had a high rating and this race came up and I realised he was eligible and away we went. He hung to the left a fair bit but he has a cut on his joint so it might have been that so we'll try and find another little rated novice hurdle. I'm half thinking of going chasing with him after February 1 but we'll see and we'll go wherever we can find a race for him.

Court Maid She was in the two and a half mile handicap today but I said this race would suit better as it wasn't as competitive. She won a two mile bumper in Galway and it looked an easier route and it paid off,. She is definitely better over further and I said to David would two two suit her and he said it would, so I'd say my father's handicap (Paddy Mullins Mares Handicap Hurdle during the Dublin racing festival) is probably where she should go next. It is worth E80,000 so it would be nice to win that!

Shady Operator He did well to win because he missed the last three and he had a bit of traffic as well,. Mark was very happy with him and he jumped very well on the whole. It was his first time going the trip and I'd say he stays every yard of it. I'd say he'll step into a graded novice now, probably around that trip again. They are two decent horses that were second and third and he wasn't a bad horse over hurdles.
