We're delighted with both fillies and James got a great feel from Mallavelly today. They went a good strong gallop, she loves that top of the ground and loves that distance. She is progressing all the time and obviously with fillies, the objective is to get blacktype. She is a little off it yet but that would be the ultimate aim. Unfortunately Empress Artemis keeps getting put up for finishing second so is detrimental to her own success. She is very genuine but we might now drop her back slightly in distance.

She ran in Limerick the last day and they over-watered, so the ground wasn’t as described. You can see the difference tonight,. It worked out well there. That’s her, she’s at her level and she doesn’t kill herself. That’s her second for me. She’s a fine filly and it’s grand for David (Spratt). I don’t think there is any more in her but we’ll keep doing that kind of thing and take what we can get.

We don't work her at home. She is a little bit temperamental, so we have been cuddling her and doing plenty on the sand. This presented itself and I said I wasn't going to start her on soft ground, I want to start her up here. I don't do racecourse gallops, I like doing it on the track under racecourse conditions. I said I don't know whether she can or she can't but, if she runs to an English 78, she will be there or thereabouts. I always start with a blank canvas. Congratulations to David Spratt and Phil Burns of Gaelic Bloodstock, they have been finding horses for me for years. I don't know how they do it or what they see, they are great lads.
