Woodshaw Whisper capped a memorable evening for Colin Keane and Ger Lyons at Dundalk with the champion jockey completing a 37/1 four-timer in the William Hill Best Odds Guaranteed Maiden.

Michael Enright’s homebred son of Wootton Bassett finished well on debut over a mile at Leopardstown last autumn for Michael Halford and Tracey Collins and was having his first run since here for Lyons.

The 5/4 favourite made headway towards the far side to lead over a furlong out and kept on well to score by a length and a quarter. Propose took the runner-up spot with Dabashan finishing well on debut just a nose further back in third.

Lyons was completing a treble on the evening having also been on the mark with Lady Iman and Mallavelly while Keane went one better when also partnering the Noel Meade-trained Billie Frechette to victory.

Lyons said, "Thanks to Mick (Halford) - I just said to the boys 'thanks for thinking of me' and Mick gave me back, quick as ever, 'it wasn't that we were thinking of you, we just couldn't think of anybody else!'

"Lovely and a nice start with the new owner Michael Enright and hopefully it is the first of many.

"Very straightforward horse, kicked into gear when we went that extra furlong or two with him.

"Liked the surface Colin said, so we will look after him and look for a nice surface.

"At the minute, he is a handicapper and we will see where he progresses. Trip versatile and wouldn't want winter ground."

On the treble, he added: "It was a lovely night's work because you are coming out of a pre-season and we don't know where we stand, and everything we are running at the minute is telling us where we are."
