Gary Carroll controlled the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Handicap from the front on Mallavelly (4/1) and the 10/11 favourite Aviatrice could not find a way past in the straight.

Carroll was allowed to set soft fractions in the seven-furlong contest, and kept his mount up to her work in the final quarter-mile to win by three-parts of a length.

It was a fourth career success for David Spratt's daughter of Siyouni.

"She's a lovely filly and I probably had two unlucky runs on her the last time. I felt I was very unlucky in Leopardstown on Champions Weekend on her.

"I'm glad she could go and do something like that.

"in fairness to Abbie, she rides her every day, and she's a tricky filly. She does a real good job; she's the makings of her now.

"She's a good filly - when she gets everything right, she is very good.

"We could have a crack at the Cooley Stakes or something for her to pick up a bit of black-type because she has a great pedigree. She likes it around here.

"She likes to go through the gears which I did. She stays a mile so, before turning in, I got her stretching on and she really galloped to the line."
