The Stewards interviewed Sam Ewing, rider of Ambitious Fellow, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who stated that his mount was leaning right in the straight and he pulled his whip through and used it in his right hand for corrective measures. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that while Sam Ewing had used his whip above the permitted limit they were satisfied that one strike was for corrective measure and they took no further action

O'Callaghan was in breach of Regulation 10.3.g, excessive frequency and having considered his record in this regard the Stewards suspended S. O'Callaghan for six racedays

P. Townend, rider of Glengouly (FR) trained by W.P. Mullins, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount made a bad mistake three out and stopped quickly
