things just didn't happen for him at Galway when he got a bump early on and didn't handle that kind of thing too well and took off with Andrew. He travelled well today and the only hiccup was the traffic turning in. He's not straightforward but is brave and Andrew gave him a great ride. They have a good relationship together. The Stewards requested a report from Patrick Martin, trainer as to the apparent improvement in form of Footprint, placed first, as compared with its recent form. The trainer reported that the horse disappointed on his last start in Galway, having been bumped at the start he raced freely and was unable to get any cover. He added that the return to softer conditions on a track that he is a multiple winner at, also contributed to the improvement in form. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the explanation offered.

An extended handicap for three yrs old and upwards (90 = 10st)
Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 5lb extra for each race won Any horse rated above 90 shall initially be treated as having that rating and the highest weight allotted shall be 10st. Subsequently, the excess over 90 in any rating shall be added to the weight allotted to that horse. (For the purpose of this note, any three year old rated above 90 shall have the applicable weight for age allowance then prevailing deducted from the horse's rating prior to the original calculation of the handicap)
