Trainer Gordon Elliott registered his second Punchestown festival success today as his Bective Stud-owned Casheldale Lad (13/2) landed the Uniquely Novice Hurdle, under jockey Jordan Gainford.

Successful with yesterday’s Grade 1 winner Teahupoo, Elliott’s Casheldale Lad today got the better of UK runner Kyrisma by three-parts of a length, with 16 lengths to third-placed Naturally Nimble

Elliott reported “obviously it was very disappointing with the Yellow Clay falling earlier today but that’s just the game we’re in and we bounced back with a winner there.

“Casheldale Lad is just a bit hard on himself, we thought he’d improve a bit on his last run and Jordan gave him a lovely ride. He got the fractions right in front and it worked great. I’d say he likes that ground, we might give him a month off and will probably keep him going.”
