Setback keeps Magical Zoe on easy list

Henry de Bromhead has confirmed that Magical Zoe will miss Glorious Goodwood and that it may be next season before she returns to action.

The seven-year-old Shantou mare memorably landed last season's Ebor at York in good style, but hasn't been out since then.

An entry in the Group 2 Qatar Lillie Langtry Stakes at Goodwood on Saturday week signalled a possible return to the fray, but a setback has ruled that out.

The trainer said: "Magical Zoe won't be running next week and she'll be taken out.

"She'll be gone for a while I'd say. She's had a setback and it'll take a while. I'm not sure when she'll be back yet, hopefully next season."

Magical Zoe has proven herself to be a real dual-purpose horse for the yard having won at Grade 3 level over flights.

De Bromhead also gave an update on possible Galway Hurdle and Galway Plate contenders.

He added: "We have Amirite in the Galway Plate, but we're not sure whether we'll run him yet, we'll see.

"We have Downmexicoway in the Galway Hurdle but, again, we'll see nearer the time whether we'll run him or not."

Amirite won the Midlands National in Kilbeggan just under a fortnight ago.
