Trainer Stephen Thorne is expecting a big run from Jagged Edge in the Royal Hunt Cup at Ascot on Wednesday.

Successful for Dermot Weld in last years Irish Cambridgeshire at the Curragh, the son of Blue Point was subsequently purchased by Thorne on behalf of owners Shamrock Thoroughbreds.

Following a winning seasonal reappearance at Naas last month, the four-year-old has been targeted at the Royal meeting.

Thorne reported: "He is in ripping form and will travel over on Monday with my assistant Stephen Mooney. We are looking forward to running him in the Royal Hunt Cup on Wednesday, having been a very good winner on Trials Day.

"You need a strong-travelling horse and that's what he is. He travelled very strongly in the race at Naas and Billy (Lee) is booked to ride, having won the race in the past and he has a very good record in those Ascot handicaps."
