David Mullins' evening in Kilbeggan got even better as Steel Wave gave him a treble on the card in the beginners' chase.

It has been a golden run for the jockey who won three races in a row (the third, fourth and fifth) at the Co Westmeath track.

He has won on six of his last 10 rides.

The jockey had Adimelo and Matin D'anjou in his sights on third-running Steel Wave after the penultimate fence.

Steel Wave (4/1jf) joined Matin D'anjou at the last and was soon ridden to account for his rivals by a length and a half.

Matin D'anjou (11/1) held off 8/1 chance Adimelo by a head for second.

“It's a very good night. That lad did it well and he doesn't waste any time in the air,” David Mullins said.

“He had a little grab at the last with a circuit to go and he learned from it. Hopefully he'll make a better chaser than a hurdler.”

This gave trainer Willie Mullins a double as he trained Redhotfillypeppers who won the novice hurdle under David Mullins.
