He's a nice horse. He's Aga Khan bred and we got him at the sales for only €1,000,. Mentally he has the best head on him. He wasn't fully wound up today. This was a prep run for Galway. He'll have a couple of entries there. He had been a bit weak in his races so I gave him a holiday after Punchestown.
Sabrina J Harty
Kalann had a holiday after he ran disappointingly on his last few runs during the winter. However he is a late May foal and is actually still growing. . We'll go to Punchestown next for either the Grade 1 Four Year Old Hurdle or else a winners' race. He likes good ground and will make a really nice horse next year.
Sabrina J Harty
“He was very green. It was his first run ever on turf. We couldn't get as much schooling into him as we would have liked and he jumped huge. Previous experience would have helped a lot. He spent all day in the air jumping! It was only the fourth run of his life and you'd have to expect a lot of improvement. He's entered in the Grade 2 at Leoparstown on St Stephen's day and a maiden the next day. We'll see what happens and if there is even racing. I'd say we'll aim at the Graded race. He's entitled to run in it on the last day and there is less chance of something going wrong with a smaller field. The winner was all out the last day and our fellow was only hacking in behind! So we'd be happy enough to take him on again. He's only still growing and was very backwards as he was a May foal. He really is a nice horse for the future. He only cost me €1,000 so he's been very lucky.”
Sabrina J Harty
We were waiting to run at Fairyhouse in the juvenile hurdle as he's a great jumper,. But this meeting came up so we decided to come as we didn't know if Fairyhouse would go ahead or not. We couldn't gallop him at home, only hacking and cantering, so we thought at least we could get a good blow into him here. He's an improving horse and is getting stronger. He stays so well and jumps well too. He likes the game and has a good attitude. He'll be a nice horse for next year. We'll look for a hurdle for him and he should handle a cut. We didn't rush him earlier in the year as he was growing and that's why we waited for Dundalk.
