Aidan O'Brien completed a double at Galway today when his well supported newcomer Landofhopeandglory (11/8) won the 'This Is The Ladbrokes Life' European Breeders Fund Maiden under the Champion Flat Trainer's son Joseph O'Brien. Sat 01st Aug
he took a few chances but hopefully will learn from that. The ground was soft enough for him but it's nice that he's won, and he got the trip well. It will be interesting to see how he gets along with that four-year-old allowance, and we'll find a winners race now.
Joseph Patrick O'Brien
It was a good performance. They kind of sprinted down over the last two. He had to be right and Barry gave him a great ride. It was his biggest test so far,. We'd have to think about Christmas now. It will be one step at a time with him but you'd be delighted with today. The faster they go for him the better he'll be you'd imagine. I was delighted with that and Barry was delighted. He jumped better today, he was a bit more measured. Barry said he was a bit big at the first but other than that he was a bit better. Please god each race that is getting better. It looked a good race and there was plenty of word for Gordon's horse (Mega Fortune). It's probably as good a three-year-old hurdle as has been run in Ireland anyway.
Joseph Patrick O'Brien
He travelled well and, like the last day, his jumping got better as the race went on. He was left in front turning in which wasn't ideal but that's just the way the race worked out,.
Joseph Patrick O'Brien
he's a lovely big horse and was quite green. I was conscious of getting there a bit too soon and wanted to wait as long as I could. When he got there he looked around and I nearly won on the bridle. I really like him, he's a huge big imposing horse and to go around this track first time and win is not easily done. I think he has a bright future and could go back to seven or stay at a mile. He's a very big horse and I'd imagine whatever he does this year is a bonus.
A P O'Brien
