It was a great result and unfortunately there had to be a loser,. I couldn't be happier and they are two good horses. Golden Spear ran a cracker too. He was drawn 16 and the young lad was superb on him. There was no point being up with the hurly burly. He took his time and the gaps came at the right time. He took 7lb off him in York and didn't do anything wrong there. Unfortunately the horse banged his head coming out of the stalls. Joe Banahan (starter) and his team were very good with him today. After Christmas my horses were a little off and we closed up shop. At Galway they started to show a bit of sparkle and they've been running well since.

It's magic. It couldn't have been better going to the last but unfortunately poor old Thomas (Edison), a good friend of mine came a cropper - the first time he's fallen - I hope he's okay, he might be a bit stiff and sore but Mick Cromwell (travelling head man) will go down and tidy him up and get him right hopefully. The horse has been well all year. He's come here with the right backing behind him. He had a great run the last day in Chester and we felt he was in as good a form today, as he has been at any time of the year, and the ground was probably in his favour today, it's the first time he got really nice ground. Everything went right in the lead up to the race and we couldn't have been happier coming here with him. All we were looking for was luck in running and we got that - Denis was very good on him. He's one of the top five jockeys and they don't make mistakes.

He's a decent little horse, and he couldn't do a lot more in Listowel where a good horse beat him. We freshened him up after that, and he timed it to perfection. It was a good performance. He's in the November Handicap (at Leopardstown on November 3) but I doubt he'll run as it comes a bit too quick and he needs more time between his races. He could run over hurdles as well and we'll tip away with him over the winter.
A J Martin
He's a great owner [John Breslin] and he's on a roll and I'm delighted for him. He ran a blinder yesterday and it was a big ask to come out today. We're fortunate it worked. The young fella gave him a great ride. He deserves a crack now at something like the November Handicap and also has the option of staying over hurdles. He'll get a well-deserved break now.
A J Martin
