We were going to run him in a claimer (in August), but he is such a great horse and we've had great fun with him. We bought him from a claimer and Cian has now won four times on him now and he has been a brilliant horse. He got an easy lead as no one took him on, he loves a bit of juice in the ground, this is a frontrunners track. We keep him sweet by doing a couple of days at the beach and I don't think he has had a gallop since the last day he ran - these horses have the ability to do it, but just need to be sweet. Every year he pays his way and will have a break at the end of the turf season.
Adrian McGuinness
My worry was that he was drawn wide but Cian did very well to get him out and across. He likes to dictate. He’s in great form and that’s his second win this year. He’ll definitely be going to Galway and will probably run in the two races, the mile and over seven furlongs. He ran well in the seven last year. I think he’s better going around a bend as he’s able to breathe. Some of those horses when they get a bit older and are flat out in a straight line, they get fed up. Around here you can get a breather into them and dictate the race. It’s a massive help to horses like him.
Adrian McGuinness
I thought the ground was ok for him and on his handicap mark and form he was entitled to do that. He'll probably be claimed. I'll be sad to see him go but at the same time he is rated 94 and he is below Listed class and a bit high in the handicap. He has been a great horse for us and was third here in the Concorde Stakes in the past.
Timothy Doyle
It is great to get him back, . We thought he was gone a bit lazy in himself so we stuck blinkers on him for the first time. He had his ground, was a class above those in his heyday and Billy said he has a higher cruising speed than the rest of them. He's not in again but will be soon. He was going to be gelded last week but I said we'd give him one chance with blinkers. He more than likely will be gelded over the winter but he still has his ability and it is great to get a win with him.
Timothy Doyle
I thought that was a great performance off 95. I thought it was a competitive race,. I knew the horse was coming right and Billy said he gave him a great feel all the way and galloped right to the line. We'll consider the Britannia but more than likely we'll stay here and go for a Listed race or Group 3. He wants a little bit of an ease and it was ideal there for him today. It was probably a shade quick the last day in Cork for him. That was a handicap, you could say, today, and he did it fair and square. I think he'll come on more as he's only coming to himself. I'm delighted with that because he showed a lot of promise last year and after the first two runs this year we were a little disappointed. His homework was always very good and he's only coming.
Timothy Doyle
It was a good performance and he has done nothing wrong and has had three smashing runs. He's getting better with each run and Billy (Lee) was impressed with him. That's either it now or he'll run in the Killavullen Stakes at Leopardstown. I'll see how he is next Monday or Tuesday and the entries close on Tuesday. He always looked a good horse and his runs are showing that. He's in the 2,000 Guineas - we were brave earlier in the year!. He handles soft like all the Lope De Vega's and while he wouldn't want it on the quick side, good to yielding wouldn't be a problem.
Timothy Doyle
