Listowel Tue, 19th Sep, 2023  Spanish Tenor We were going to run him in a claimer (in August), but he is such a great horse and we've had great fun with him. We bought him from a claimer and Cian has now won four times on him now and he has been a brilliant horse. He got an easy lead as no one took him on, he loves a bit of juice in the ground, this is a frontrunners track. We keep him sweet by doing a couple of days at the beach and I don't think he has had a gallop since the last day he ran - these horses have the ability to do it, but just need to be sweet. Every year he pays his way and will have a break at the end of the turf season.

Galway Tue, 1st Aug, 2023  Livio Milo He deserves it, he's had three seconds on his last three runs and the plan worked out perfectly. He is probably better over a mile than seven furlongs and that's why the plan was to push on and get first run early in the straight,. That's what we did, he battled hard and got a good ride. He did what I thought he'd do. I love horses getting into a rhythm coming down the hill because so many get unbalanced. When they get balanced, they get a rhythm which gets them up the hill. That's his level and he's tough and the winning of the race today was tactics although I shouldn't be saying all this!

Cork Fri, 28th Jul, 2023  Torivega That was pure relief. Robbie gave him an absolutely class ride as you have to be really ballsy to sit there for so long although he said he wasn't ballsy enough to sit that way to the line!. I've been pitching him in at the deep end but I actually learned a lot about him in France so the trip wasn't a complete waste of time - and we had a lovely time! Deauville was my fault as I had asked David Egan (jockey) wrongly to go up front and he said afterwards that he'd have ridden him differently. We learnt from that and he is trying to race too much but is only a three-year-old and actually takes a lot of work. He is hard on himself because he is heavy. Viztoria (the winner's Group 2-winning dam) was a pinhook who we couldn't sell and Ado McGuinness and Eddie Lynam trained her, but it was almost by default that I got into training. Viztoria suckered John (Lavery, brother) into ownership and it was happy days for me. She has got Invincible Spirit and Sea The Stars foals on the ground and is in-foal to New Bay.

Leopardstown Thu, 8th Jun, 2023  Moon De Vega She's a nice filly to have. She won her winners' race and now she's after winning her Listed race,. I thought initially that nine furlongs might be a bit sharp for her, but she did it well in Gowran over nine-and-a-half and Billy said there that she's very comfortable at that distance. I'd say she'll go for the (Group 2) Kilboy Stakes on Oaks weekend, it is nine furlongs and a Group 3. That would be the logical next step. We haven't been hard on her at home, so hopefully she can keep improving. I said to Billy, being by Lope De Vega, would she be okay on the ground but it was good enough in Gowran and he thought she handled it well. Her form last year was good. She had a troubled passage in Chester behind Thoughts Of June and Above The Curve, when they got away on her, and she ran well enough in the Hoppings Stakes at Newcastle after the Epsom Oaks.

Gowran Park Tue, 23rd May, 2023  Moon De Vega That was great. She's a new filly, it was nice place to start and it worked out,. She was rated 100 and ran in the Epsom Oaks. I didn't think anything else in the race, unless Mr Weld's was very good, was of that calibre. She was fourth in a Group 3 and fourth in a Cheshire Oaks, and not beaten too far in an Epsom Oaks, but had no black-type so the mission is to try and get some black-type. She's a Lope De Vega filly with a good pedigree, and a nice looking filly, so that's the plan.

Naas Sun, 21st May, 2023  Fort Vega I was a little bit worried, being a Lope De Vega, whether the ground would be a tad fast for him. We decided to let him take his chance because it was such a good race for him. I'll talk to John (Lavery, brother), I know where he'd like to go. They love having runners at Ascot and I'd say the Jersey could be an option. John is in Portugal, so I'll talk to him and we'll make a plan. He's in the Guineas next week but you are jumping from a handicap to a Group 1. I think the weather is to be very warm as well, if it came up dead soft I might chance it. He's a gorgeous horse, you can put him anywhere and do anything with him as he's just so easy.
